Bullwinkle travelled up north last night for a friendly revenge match against Redcliffe, played immediately after the hosts’ Christmas party and blink-and-you’ll-miss-it AGM. Pizza and chocolate thus paved the way for another hard-fought contest, Bullwinkle emerging 6.5-2.5 victors.
Of the nine players fielded by Bullwinkle, five were juniors and one a recent ex-junior. As this contingent contested the top six boards (Bullwinkle fiddling the board order to make it so), it would be fairer to deem the bottom three boards friendly games. By this reckoning, Bullwinkle won the match 3.5-2.5 in a neat reversal of Redcliffe’s 1-point victory from earlier in the year.
